The performance KONS explores the interaction between humans and the environment, where the central motif—soil—symbolizes natural materiality while simultaneously questioning human intervention in natural processes. Rather than following a linear structure, it offers the viewer an opportunity for free interpretation of the symbolism within the relationships between the world we inhabit and a utopian vision of a world where community and nature form the foundation of human existence.
KONS establishes itself as a space for open reflection and exploration, where the layering of movement, sound, and visual imagery reveals a desire to establish a new balance. The foundation of this reflection is nature—the core from which the creators draw and to which they continually return.

KONS is a phonetic abstraction that doesn’tprovide final answers. KONS is a consolidation, which reinforces the given elements into acoherent whole. It is a symbolic constellation that connects. It is a consensus, an empowering agreement, harmony, and alignment. It is a construct, building, assembling, and simultaneously dismantling consistency.

Dancers Nina Grmovšek Seljak, Anastasiya Pruyidze, and Valentina Tomažinčič draw the performative movement from improvisational processes, thus organically responding to the spatial environment, materiality, sound, and internal perception. The bodies serve as a medium that does not adhere to aesthetic form, but rather channels natural, ever-evolving processes. These processes expand into a broader, almost contemplative relationship with the environment, raising questions about the balance between control and surrender, and offering a reflection on human coexistence with natural forces.
The sound design for the performance is the work of Listening Circuits (Tarik Haskić), who explores the act of listening as a means of connecting with external and internal spaces, crafted as a subtle sonic intervention. The soundscape is based on field recordings gathered from various locations across Europe, combined with modular synthesizers and custom-made instruments. Through his practice, Haskić understands listening as a form of deep perception, not only of external sounds but also of ourselves.
The performance is co-created by visual artist Natalija Gajić and lighting designer Jaka Varmuž.

KONS is a production by the artistic collective KUD Format, supported by the Municipality of Koper and ZKD MOK.
